Welcome to Geelong Little Athletics Centre!
Established in 1964, Geelong Little Athletics Centre (GLAC) is proudly recognised as the birthplace of Little Athletics in Australia.
Today, GLAC is one of Victoria's largest Little Athletics centres, welcoming more than 800 young athletes and their families each season.
Based at John Landy Field in South Geelong, our volunteer-run Centre brings together eight affiliated clubs:
Chilwell | East Geelong | Geelong Guild | Grovedale | Leopold | Ocean Grove Barwon Heads | Peninsula | South Barwon
Our focus is on fun, friendship, fitness and personal achievement, providing opportunities for children of all abilities to enjoy athletics in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Choosing Your Club & Registering
To participate in Geelong Little Athletics, each athlete must register with one of our eight affiliated clubs.
Families are welcome to choose whichever club suits them best. Many select a club close to home, while others prefer to join friends, family or schoolmates.
Each club has its own uniform, worn at weekly competitions alongside the athlete's official registration bib. Uniforms can be purchased directly through your chosen club.
New to Little Athletics? We encourage you to try athletics before committing to a full season. Visit our Registration page for information about trial opportunities, membership fees and how to join.
Already a member? Returning athletes can renew their registration for the 2026/27 season through the Little Athletics Victoria registration portal.

Families should ensure they have selected the correct club and checked their child's age eligibility before completing registration.
Please note: Registration fees are non-refundable, subject to applicable consumer law and Little Athletics Victoria's terms and conditions.

Age Groups & Programs
Geelong Little Athletics offers age-appropriate programs for children from Under 6 through to Under 17, helping athletes develop their skills, confidence and enjoyment of athletics.
Age Eligibility:
Children must be at least 5 years old to participate in Little Athletics. To check your child's eligibility and correct age group, please use the Little Athletics Victoria Age Calculator.
Under 6 & Under 7 – On Track
Our youngest athletes participate in On Track, a fun, skills-based program introducing running, jumping and throwing through age-appropriate activities. Sessions generally run for approximately 1½ hours on Saturday mornings.
Under 8 – Under 17 – Track & Field
Athletes participate in a rotating weekly program of running, jumping and throwing events, with opportunities to develop their skills, improve personal bests and enjoy friendly competition.
Athletes can also participate in additional regional and state events, subject to eligibility.
For further information, including weekly events and starting times, please visit our GLAC Programs page.
Saturday Competitions
Our regular Little Athletics competitions are held on Saturday mornings at John Landy Field, South Geelong, generally from 8:00am to 12:00pm, between October and March.
Each week follows one of our rotating athletics programs, giving athletes the opportunity to participate in a variety of track and field events throughout the season.
Athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves, improve their personal bests and enjoy participating alongside their club or age group mates.
In addition to our regular Saturday competitions, GLAC hosts special events and championships throughout the season. These could have different starting times.
Please check our Season Calendar for competition dates, Programs, special events and any changes to the regular schedule.
Please note that Little Athletics is not a drop-off activity. A parent or responsible adult must remain at the venue whilst their child is participating.
Cross Country
GLAC also offers opportunities for athletes to participate in Cross Country during the winter months, generally from April/May through to August.
Cross Country is a great way to stay active during the athletics off-season, build endurance and enjoy running in a different environment.
Further information about winter Cross Country competitions, locations and registration opportunities will be provided closer to the season.
Come & Try Little Athletics
New to Little Athletics? We'd love you to come along and give it a try!
GLAC offers a trial program for children who are interested in experiencing Little Athletics before committing to a full season.
How does it work?
Eligible new athletes can participate in up to two trial sessions during our designated trial period, giving them the opportunity to experience running, jumping and throwing events alongside other athletes in their age group.
All trial athletes must register online through Little Athletics Victoria (LAVic) before attending. Trial places and dates are subject to availability, and trials are only available to children who meet LAVic's eligibility requirements.
Ready to give it a go?
Visit our Registrations page for current trial dates, eligibility information and instructions on how to register.
We look forward to welcoming you to the track!
Volunteering at GLAC
Geelong Little Athletics Centre is proudly run by volunteers, with more than 100 people helping each week to deliver our athletics programs.
Every family plays a part!
All families are expected to contribute to club duties on at least three occasions throughout the season. These duties may include assisting at field events, recording results, helping with equipment, officiating or supporting the setup and pack-up of competitions.
No previous athletics experience is necessary! Our clubs and experienced volunteers are always happy to guide new helpers.
Want to get more involved?
There are also opportunities to assist with coaching, officiating, special events, club committees and Centre operations.
Whether you can spare a little time or take on a larger role, your contribution makes a real difference to our young athletes.
For more information about volunteering, please visit our Committee & Volunteers page or speak with your club representatives.
